SOLSTICE AS THE SWISS PREMIUM SUSTAINABLE ESSENTIALS
In 2014, David Bloch and Alexander Imhoff founded solstice with the simple idea to create desirable premium essentials that can inspire escapism to the wonders of our planet while respecting it.
Taking inspiration from their travels throughout the world, their passion for architecture, the Olympics vintage graphics and geometry, they imagine collections in-between modernism and classism, precision and functionality. The garments are simple, confortable on the skin and with discrete details for an effortless look, but also an easy match with everybody actual wardrobe.
As fan of fine fabrics, they wanted to understand what was the story behind each of them. Therefore, it was clear for them that sustainability should a be a key element of true craftsmanship.
THE SWISS SHIRT PROJECT
It is important to have garments coming from solstice home country. Luckily the Swiss textile industry is still active in cotton spinning, fine jersey and luxury popeline. The fabrics used in solstice Swiss Shirt Project, a permanent collection, are fully Swiss made from the spinning of the cotton yarn to the finishing within 80 km radius from Zurich... except the organic cotton that is imported from the United States!
In winter, the wool is sourced from Italy, mostly superfine merino wool then shipped to an atelier in Portugal specialized knitwear. For more than 40 years We use innovative knit hoping to surprise our consumers, while still keeping a minimalist and sophisticate look. Every garment will also something of its own, weather it is an elbow knitted patch or a summer knitted polo.
Fabrics are sourced from experienced and high quality producers in Italy, Japan., Portugal and Switzerland.. The manufacturing of the garments and trims is entirely done in Western Europe.
Sustainability is a journey and every semester we look at improvements: the cotton is certified by GOTS and oko 100, the wool is oko 100, the paper is FSC.... and we try to increase the amount of recycled content.
